Quincy Sun Candidate Profile:
Kate Campbell for Quincy School Committee

Kate Campbell is campaigning for the Quincy School Committee with a platform focused on three core areas: improving communication between QPS leadership and families, retaining high-quality educators, and ensuring appropriate financial planning for the district's changing demographics. As a parent and former early learning director, Campbell highlights the critical need to address student mental health through social-emotional learning and anti-bullying programs. She commits to being a transparent voice for the community, especially for parents of children with special education accommodations.

Community

Quincy Public Schools is a dynamic community of students, caregivers, educators, and administrators. I believe for QPS to succeed everyone in the community should feel valued. Students should have the social and academic support they need to learn and thrive; families should feel welcomed and included; educators should have the resources they need both within and beyond the classroom; administrators should feel engaged.

Connection

I believe trust and communication are essential to building a sense of connection to our schools. Trust develops when students, families, educators, and administrators have a safe, affirming environment, feel empowered, and are held accountable. Effective communication between the home, classroom, and administration strengthens relationships and can increase engagement. We can achieve better outcomes when everyone feels more connected to their school.

Collaboration

I am an advocate. I have experience listening to and collaborating with QPS families, educators, and leadership from all across Quincy. Although every school has their own distinct culture there are many common areas where our schools shine and also where they can improve and grow. Our QPS community is strongest when everyone works together towards shared goals. I believe I can be a unifying voice in the Quincy School Committee.
